We Three Kings

  • We three kings of Orient are
    Bearing gifts we traverse afar
Field and fountain, moor and mountain
    Following yonder star

O Star of wonder, star of night
    Star with royal beauty bright
    Westward leading, still proceeding
Guide us to thy Perfect Light

Born a King on Bethlehem's plain
Gold I bring to crown Him again
    King forever, ceasing never
    Over us all to reign

    Frankincense to offer have I
    Incense owns a Deity nigh
Prayer and praising, all men raising
    Worship Him, God most high

Myrrh is mine, its bitter perfume
Breathes of life of gathering gloom
    Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying
    Sealed in the stone-cold tomb

    Glorious now behold Him arise
    King and God and Sacrifice
    Alleluia, Alleluia
    Earth to heav'n replies

Scripture

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of King Herod, wise men from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, ‘Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star at its rising and have come to worship him.’
— Matthew 2:1-2 (CSB)

Other Scripture reading:

John 8:12, 1 John 1:1-7

Discussion Questions

  1. What can you do to live as one with infectious hope?

  2. Just as the wise men brought gifts to honor a king, what can you lay before the Father in worship?
